UK voyage concludes with sail through Tower Bridge
On the final leg of the Darwin200 UK Voyage, we sailed from near Tilbury under Tower Bridge and to Canary Wharf, where we moored up for the week.
During our journey along the Thames, we had perfect weather. We passed many of London’s great sights, including the WW2 cruiser HMS Belfast, the Tower of London, the spectacular Naval College at Greenwich (home to the Greenwich Line of Longitude) and the Millennium Dome.
It was a magical moment coming under the bridge, with all the masts manned with our crew and scientists, all singing the Pelican call “Peli Peli Peli, Can Can Can!”. The acoustics were amazing. Wow. What a moment indeed!
